The winter season in Mexico is truly magical. Our shores welcome 8 of the 11 known species of whales in the world, making Banderas Bay the temporary home for magnificent Humpback Whales. We invite you to join our whale watching tour in puerto vallarta for the 2026-2027 season to witness these incredible mammals in their natural habitat.

To ensure you have the best experience, we offer two convenient departure locations:
8:30 am: Paradise Village Public dock in Nuevo Nayarit.
9:20 am: Puerto Magico (API Terminal) in Puerto Vallarta.
We highly recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light sweater. Comfortable shoes are also essential for moving around the boat safely.

Whale watching season officially kicks off on December 8th and lasts through March. At Mike's Fishing & Tours, we often see whales on our tours in the weeks before and after the season! Even though we can't get as close during those times, it's still a wonderful experience. When it's not whale season, our Snorkeling and Sunset Tours are a great time!
The prime whale watching season in Puerto Vallarta is between January and February. If you're visiting during these months, be sure to add a whale watching tour to your itinerary for the best chance to see these majestic creatures up close.
Humpback whales are the most commonly spotted species during the winter months. However, you may also encounter Bryde's whales, minke whales, orcas, and even playful bottlenose dolphins.
